Bursary Scheme Launched With Help Musicians
22 March 2017 - Press releaseWide Days has partnered with Help Musicians UK (HMUK) to offer a limited number of discounted bursary passes for emerging musical and industry talent. The 50 accreditations will cost less than a third of the full price (£25 instead of £85), with a small number of free passes available for those meeting special criteria.
Open to anyone not in full-time education, the deadline for applications is Friday 31 March and successful candidates are required to attend a special induction hosted by Help Musicians at the beginning of the event.
“This partnership with Help Musicians UK allows us to continue our commitment to making the event as accessible as possible,” says Wide Days founder, Olaf Furniss. “We already offer a £25 student ticket and this means that those who are not in full-time education have an opportunity to attend for a special rate.”
The partnership underpins the charity’s commitment to developing stronger links with the Scottish music industry and comes ahead of plans to have a permanent presence in Scotland later this year.
“Wide Days is such a significant event in the national music calendar and we are thrilled to come on board as a partner for the 2017 convention,” says Claire Gevaux, HMUK Creative Director. “Supporting the bursary scheme by enabling those who couldn’t afford to attend this important networking event, resonates with us as the leading independent charity for musicians.”
In addition, HMUK will be taking part in a panel discussion highlighting opportunities and support through the charity as part of a session exploring different funding streams available in the sector. Hosted in partnership with the Scottish Music Industry Association, it also features Vanessa Reed (PRS Foundation), Alan Morrison (Creative Scotland) and Gennaro Castaldo (BPI), and will be followed by a panel discussion.
