Former Take That manager chooses Absolute for new boy band Yes Lad

Former Take That manager Nigel Martin Smith has chosen Absolute Label Services to back his new boy band, Yes Lad.

Yes Lad are a young, five-piece electro pop group from the north of England who write their own material and play their own instruments, mixing great songs with style and real stage presence.

They will release their debut single, Walk Away (produced by Sky Adams), on April 28 on Smith’s via Absolute with an album to follow later this year.

As part of the deal, Absolute will provide sales, distribution, marketing, digital marketing, neighbouring rights collection and Direct to Consumer support for the group’s releases.

Nigel Martin Smith said: “The music industry has changed so much of late and, launching a band like Yes Lad, you need the control and flexibility of a self release. By going with Absolute I can run my own campaign whilst benefiting from the knowledge and experience of their great team of industry experts.”

Absolute Label Services Director Mark Dowling said: “I’m very happy to be working with Nigel again. His track record is second to none. Nigel had a host of options so we’re delighted he chose to work with Absolute. Yes Lad are incredible singers with a strong work ethic and they’ve made a very good album. The early reaction has been astounding and they are recruiting fans at a rate of knots. I’m excited to see what the future holds for them.”

On Yes Lad, Nigel Martin Smith added: “We’ve had three different line-ups and it’s taken four years to get Yes Lad where I want them to be, but they’re now ready and raring to go. Expect to see a lot of them in the near future. They’re a great bunch of lads with a lot of talent and versatility. They live for music and they’re prepared to work hard to get the success they deserve.”
