Family-Friendly Folk In The Park Festival Brings Major Artists To Sutton In August 08 Aug 2022
Big stars, up-and-coming talent, family activities and fabulous food and drink will all be on offer on Saturday August 27th at this year's Folk in the Park, the annual, family-friendly live music festival in Sutton, in the heart of south London.
The day-long event is curated by the town's widely-acclaimed, much-loved community space The Sound Lounge, the UK’s first certified CarbonNeutral® grassroots venue, in partnership with award-winning Sutton green space Manor Park, with support from Enjoy Sutton, overseers of the Sutton BID (Business Improvement District). The Sound Lounge was a double winner in the 2022 Time & Leisure Awards, and won commendations in numerous other categories.
Folk in the Park will feature no fewer than 15 artists and more than nine hours of music across two stages, and includes performances by Mercury Music Prize-nominated pop-rock-folk heroes the Magic Numbers, as well as a solo set by their co-founder Michele Stodart; Matt Owens & The Delusional Vanity Project (featuring the former member of the acclaimed Noah and the Whale); the Ric Sanders Trio, fronted by the longtime fiddle player with folk legends Fairport Convention; iTunes chart-topping singer-songwriter John Smith; Americana UK award-nominated Hannah White; much-admired, widely-travelled troubadour Peter Bruntnell; and London-based "urban folk" Dubliner Louis Brennan.
Also in the impressive line-up are such notable names on the roots music scene as Ags Connolly, Charlotte Enegren and Rebecca Riedtmann; fellow Sound Lounge favourites John Lovell, Dick Philpot and Phil Hooley; and local community folk outfit the Wandle Ceilidh Band.
Advance tickets for the festival are outstanding value at just £15, and VIP tickets at £30 will offer an exclusive covered marquee, a glass of Prosecco on entry, and a dedicated bar, toilets and seating. The festival builds and expands on the success of the 2021 event, with gates open in Manor Park from 11am and festivities continuing into the summer evening, until 9pm.
The Sound Lounge's tireless commitment to a sustainable future ensures that every aspect of the event production is as eco-friendly as possible. The food options on offer, delicious, hand-crafted pizzas and kebabs, will be 100% plant-based and made from the finest quality, locally-sourced ingredients. The bars will be stocked by local, independent, zero-waste Signal Brewery.
Folk in the Park is the height of the Sutton summer!
Tickets for Folk in the Park in Manor Park, Sutton on Saturday, August 27th are available for £15 in advance, as well as VIP tickets at £30, via ticketweb.uk (Search: Folk In The Park)
